About the
Bon
Secours Spiritual Center
The Philosophy of the
Sisters of Bon Secours is routed in their call from God
and their mission from the Church to help bring people to
wholeness, to alleviate human suffering, and to help bring
others to a deeper awareness of their own spirituality.
Located at the border of
Howard and Carroll counties in south central Maryland, Bon
Secours Spiritual Center sits at the highest point of 313
acres of farm and woodlands. It is adjacent to Patapsco
State Park and commands spectacular views of some of
Maryland's most beautiful countryside.
Bon Secours Spiritual
Center is fully air-conditioned with spacious and
comfortable meeting rooms.
In February of 1999, the
Bon Secours Labyrinth was built on the Center grounds and
offers guests a place for quiet reflection. The Labyrinth
is the focal point of a on e-acre "sacred space"
set aside as Holy Ground to commemorate the 175th
anniversary of the founding of the Congregation of Bon
Secours in Paris.
Guests may walk hiking trails that wind
throughout the property or find a quiet spot to relax
and
enjoy the beauty of the landscape. The fishpond, with its
island garden and footbridge, is one of the most
photographed spots at the Center. Guests are also welcome
to use the large outdoor pool (in season), the indoor
fitness center, and the Library. Our bookstore features an
assortment of contemporary books, tapes, CDs and greeting
cards, as well as a variety of interesting items, all of
which are for sale.
Ministering
to Mind, Body, and Spirit
The retreat team provides a variety of experiences
including workshops, seminars and days of prayer for both
individuals and groups. Spiritual directors are available
by prior arrangement, and ongoing individual and
group spiritual direction are significant ministries of
the Bon Secours Spiritual Center. Individuals come to the
Center to simply pray in the beautiful chapel, walk the
Labyrinth, use the meditation garden, sit by the pond with
its Japanese Zen Garden island or enjoy the extensive
grounds and nature at its finest.

For those who feel the
need to spend a quiet day in an atmosphere of peace,
prayer, and tranquility - Bon Secours Spiritual Center is
such a place.
