Sister Eileen O'Connor, C.B.S.

Congregation Team, Area Leader, Sisters of Bon Secours-Ireland and Great Britain

Sr Eileen entered the Congregation of Sisters of Bon Secours in 1980.

She is an experienced State Registered General and Sick Children’s nurse and Clinical Manager. She was Director of Nursing Services iatn Bon Secours Hospital, Glasnevin, Dublin from 2002 to 2017.

Sr Eileen has completed a full year residency programme in Clinical Pastoral Education in the US and ministered as a member of the Pastoral Care Team at Bon Secours Hospital, Cork from January to September 2020.

Her education includes a degree in Healthcare Administration, MA (Research) in Canon Law and Sr Eileen is currently studying for a BA (Honours) in Theology.

Sr Eileen has served on the Area Leadership Team in Ireland from 1996 to 2000 and 2009 to 2014.

Sr Eileen is currently a Director of the Board of Bon Secours Health System

She is a member of the Congregation Team for the Sisters of Bon Secours and is Area leader for Sisters of Bon Secours Ireland & GB.

Sister Siobhan Horgan, C.B.S.

Member, Area Team-Ireland and Great Britain

Born in Co. Kerry of farming stock Siobhán is the youngest of the family of three brothers and two sisters, a family rooted in practicality and commitment to work. Following state registration as Nurse and Midwife she entered Bon Secours Congregation in Ireland. As a qualified nurse and Clinical Manager Siobhán served for many years working with the Southern Health Board and Health Service Executive (HSE) particularly in the Care of the older person Siobhán completed several post graduate educational programmes and professional development courses prior to her retirement.

Having given long service to the care of older people Siobhán, maintains a keen interest in the biographical data, social dimension and experiences that are presented by the people in the locality in which she lives.

Sr. Siobhán has served on previous Country Leadership Teams in Ireland and is presently committed to journey with her fellow Sisters for the immediate future on the current Bon Secours Area Leadership Team 2019 – 2024

Sister Goretti Spillane, C.B.S.

Member, Area Team-Ireland and Great Britain; Member

Sr. Goretti Spillane entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours of Paris in 1963. As a State Registered Nurse with specialised training in both Intensive Care and Theatre, she ministered in these areas for many years in the Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Following this time Sr Goretti ministered as a Certified Hospital Chaplain, Director of Pastoral Care and Mission Co-ordinator at our Bon Secours Hospital, Dublin where she was also a member of the Hospital’s Management Team until her retirement in 2018.In addition to her specialised nursing qualifications, Sr Goretti holds Diplomas in Theology and Spirituality.

Sr. Goretti was involved in establishing the Bon Secours Health System (BSHS) in Ireland in 1994 during her first term as a member of the Area Leadership Team. She has served as a Board member of many Boards and Committees both within the Congregation and Bon Secours Health System She served as Board Chairperson and Director of Bon Secours Health System from 2009-2015 and was a member of the BSHS Governance Committee for many years.

Sr Goretti previously served as a member of the Area Leadership Team from 2009 – 2014 . In addition, Sr Goretti Spillane is a member of the Congregational International Sponsorship Committee.

Sister Helena Mary Daly

Member, Area Team-Ireland and Great Britain

Sr Helena Daly entered the Congregation of the Sisters of Bon Secours in Ireland in 1959. A State Registered Nurse and Midwife, she held various senior positions in acute healthcare at Bon Secours Hospital, Cork. Sr Helena was Matron of the Bon Secours Maternity Hospital was 7 years before assuming the post of Director of Nursing of Bon Secours acute healthcare and maternity services in Cork when both were amalgamated in 1985. A post she held until 2010.

During this time, Sr Helena was a member of the Cork Hospital Management Team. She obtained a Diploma in Advanced Nursing Administration at the Royal College of Nursing, London, England and also obtained Diplomas in Management and Counselling. Sr Helena Mary served on the Leadership Team of the Sisters of Bon Secours in Ireland from 1986 – 1992 and from 1994 – 2000.
From July 2009 to June 2015 Sr Helena Mary served as a Member of Bon Secours Ireland, the ministerial juridic person for our healthcare ministry in Ireland.

Following a sabbatical in 2011/12, Sr Helena ministered as Pastoral Care/Mission Leader at Bon Secours Care Village, Mount Desert, Cork, a long-term facility for the Care of the Elderly.
