Welcome to the Sisters of Bon Secours in Peru. Our Sisters of Bon Secours in Ireland, inspired by the call of Pope Paul VI and guided by the Holy Spirit, embarked on a new mission in Latin America in 1966. We invite you to learn more about our outreach and mission.

History

After arriving in Peru, the sisters began their apostolate by dedicating themselves to the care of mothers and children. They provided health care, social work, religious instruction, and support to the poorest of the poor, especially the sick and dying.

This labor of love as well as availability, courage, solidarity, reconciliation, justice, service, compassion, respect, joy, charity, simplicity and all the values nurtured by our sisters soon attracted the hearts of young women who also wished to consecrate themselves to God, devoting their lives to the service of the needy.

The sisters in Peru began to grow in numbers and expanded the ministry into new communities, which operate in different locations in the country.

Ministry Today

Through a testimony of faith and service in Peru, the Sisters of Bon Secours assume an increasingly prophetic and evangelizing role in the world. The sisters continue to acknowledge and respond to the action and guide of the Holy Spirit through our ministries. They are active in education, health care, and offer services for women and children. Some of their ministries:

  • Siloe Center, a pre-school program for children
  • Fe y Alegría Schools, State and Parish Schools
  • Madre de Cristo Clinic
  • Belen House of Refuge for abused women
